Feeling Anxious?

Feeling Anxious?

All of the following are ways that we say “I love you” to our body. As you do them, you can say to yourself “this care is how I love myself.” <3

  • Jeanne Mirabella is a therapist and doula specializing in pregnancy, birth and postpartum, as well as trauma and loss, who offers talk therapy over video. She’s amazing.

  • Insight Timer: This free app has thousands of guided meditations. When you feel your mind spinning, put one of these on. I love the yoga nidra sessions from Jennifer Piercey.

  • Magnesium glycinate, up to 500mg a day, preferably taken 30 minutes before sleeping, will promote deep rest, help keep your blood pressure normal, and can relieve anxiety.

  • Walk in the woods: Nature therapy is real.

  • Gentle herbal nervines: Teas of lavender, chamomile, skullcap, hops, catnip and/or lemon balm, or in tincture form if you don’t want to drink something right before bed.

  • Meditation, YouTube yoga videos, going for a run, or otherwise exercising.

  • Turn your fears into affirmations. Literally write out the fear and transform it, for example, “I’m afraid I can’t handle the pain” becomes “I can handle anything, one breath at a time.”

  • Cut off social media or news intake at a certain time of day. Let your evenings be precious. Let sleep be a way that you love yourself.

  • Nourish your friendships, ask for support, and let your circle hold you.

Should you tell me about your trauma history?
